In 2008 Heritage Burlington awarded it's annual Heritage Preservation award to a historic farm property surrounded by estate homes located in the escarpment area of Burlington Ontario.

The historic, oversized stone house and bank barn were built in the 1870's and sits on 5 acres of property. The project was to add a pool and large cabana, while being sensitive to the historic 1870's house and barn.  Elements using modern materials such as composites, plastics, hollow tubes with plastic coatings would not be acceptable on a project such as this.

The large cabana with outdoor kitchen was constucted of hand cut post and beam.  The roof was exposed tung and groove cedar covered with a corrugated metal to match the barn.

Fredrick Jones Iron Works was the supplier of hand forged wrought iron fence to surround the landscaped pool area. The combination of authentic lime stone and wrought iron is pleasing to the eye and in keeping with homes of the era.

The pool area has several gas lamps which were supplied with a simple straight tube post. Fredrick Jones supplied hand forged, wrought iron covers that slide over the straight posts to add that ornate hand made look to match the wrought iron fence. Each post cover has two ornate plant hangers incorporated into the post cover.

The driveway gates are Fredrick Jones hand made, solid wrought iron gates, in a style and sacle that would be typical of a 1870's property. The wrought iron gates are attached to limestone pillars which are made of aged, reclaimed limestone to match the house. Once again the combination of authentic heritage black wrought iron with reclaimed limestone was complimentary to the original historic structures on the property.

Fredrick Jones Iron Works is proud to be a supplier on this award winning project.

2007 - learn more...

In 2007 Heritage Milton awarded the annual Heritage Milton award to the grand victorian house at 103 Thomas St. Milton.

The grand victorian house was painstakenly restored to its original grandure using authentic materials and many hand made components to match its original design and quality.

Included in the authentic materials was a hand forged wrought iron fence with matching gates and posts manufactured by Fredrick Jones Iron Works

The hand forged hammered picket tops and rivet head joints are typical of the way wrought iron was hand made of solid steel in the 1890's. The fence was coated in a heritage black the give it the antique appearance.

Attention to detail was evident everywhere on this project therefore the fence that surrounds the grounds called for material and workmanship of the highest quality, to match that found on 1890's victorian homes.

Fredrick Jones Ironworks is proud to be a supplier on this award winning project.
