Plantation Series
The Plantation Series was inspired by historic areas of the Deep South, like Savannah Georgia, Charleston and Beaufort, South Carolina.
The Plantation Series is a simple but very strong piece of hand-forged wrought iron. This exact design can be found in many of the southern cities and plantations.
While elegantly simple in design, its heavy horizontal bar and 3/4 inch solid steel pickets make it the heaviest series in the Fredrick Jones portfolio.
The solid 3/4 inch square steel pickets pass through a hole in the 1/2 inch thick by 1 1/2 inch wide horizontal bars, then each connection is welded to make a single structure of horizontal and vertical wrought iron incredibly strong, heavy and historically accurate.
The picket top is heated read hot, then hand-hammered to form a spear. Another historically correct option for the picket top would be the hand-forged pyramid.
Between its pickets, along the top bar, is some simple but heavy gauge steel scroll work. The Plantation Series' understated beauty and heavy iron construction is historically correct, handmade and a one-of-a-kind piece that will last for centuries, as have the originals.
Fence Section
Fence sections are available in 3 standard heights:
- 36" high
- 42" high
- pool compliant - 63" high (check local codes)
Custom heights may also be ordered.
Gates
The Fredrick Jones Company considers the gate a welcoming work of art, a handmade solid wrought iron mechanism that invites family and guests into your home.
It is for this reason that Fredrick Jones gates come complete with two oversized gate posts, topped with hand-shaped caps and balls, along with wonderful hand-forged and shaped latches, made by a master blacksmith out of red hot iron.
Gate posts are slightly larger (8" x 8") than the fence posts, but of the same design to properly announce your entrance.
Driveway Gates - These functioning works of art come complete with oversized posts, handmade latches and hardware fashioned out of solid steel by a master blacksmith. The standard size opening between posts is 14' 4", but custom openings are also available. The finish is in heritage flat black to match your Fredrick Jones fence.
Posts
The Fredrick Jones line of wrought iron fence includes oversized, handmade, wrought iron posts with ornamentation fashioned by master blacksmiths out of red hot iron. The post has solid steel, slotted receptacles that allow the fence section to be quickly bolted together, making a true and ridgid assembly to last a lifetime.
The Plantation fence posts are 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 inches, and gate posts are 8 x 8 inches, hand welded structures with hand-formed steel cap and ball tops. The interior of each post features ornate scroll work to compliment the fence design.
The slightly larger, taller gate posts will properly announce your entry.
